Wyoming is abbreviated WY. Cheyenne is the capital and the largest city of Wyoming. Residents of Wyoming are referred to as "Wyomingites."

The unofficial nickname of Wyoming is " Equality State." The state song is "Wyoming."

Wyoming's state bird is the Western Meadowlark. The Indian Paintbrush is the state flower and the Plains Cottonwood is the state tree.

Wyoming is ranked 50th in population and received its statehood July 10, 1890.

Bordering states of Wyoming are Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Utah. The Bighorn River and the Green River are major bodies of water of Wyoming.

The major industries of Wyoming are farming (cattle, sheep), mining (coal, uranium), oil, natural gas and tourism.

There were 99,058 K12 students in the Wyoming public schools in 1996. Out of those students 6,987 were first grade students.
